How to Promote Your RSS Feed for More Traffic

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a great way to share your posts with the public. If readers want to keep up with the articles you have on your blog or website, having an RSS feed is the way to go.

Many blogging platforms have built-in RSS feed functionality. Some blogs or websites may require you to add a plugin or click a button to enable this function. By having a built-in functionality removes the need to write your own code and upload it to your site.

Having an RSS feed is one thing but how do you let the world know about it? Once you have your feed, it's time to promote the heck out of it. You want to promote it because the ultimate goal is to get more traffic to your site. Here is one way to promote your RSS feed:

Submit the feeds to RSS Directories

- By submitting your RSS feed to directories, there will be more websites linking to yours.

- The popularity of your link increases as more and more sites link to you

- Gets your site and/or pages indexed with the search engines more quickly

- Is a great way to get back links

How RSS Feed Directories work

Some directories charge a fee for their service but other sites don't. Once your feed has been submitted it goes into specific, targeted categories. So, if you are doing a search for information on a particular topic, you can go to a feed directory and type in the topic you are searching for. A list of feeds comes up for you to choose from.

How to find your RSS Feed

· Go to your website or blog. Look in the address bar at the top of the page. You might see the orange icon for the feed.

· Click on this icon.

· Select the feed you want. The URL will change and will have the word 'feed' as part of it.

· Copy this and put in a document for reference.

· Do this for every page that you add content to. You may have readers that are interested in one topic that you write about rather then all of them.

· You'll be able to submit each feed to directories so they can appear in different categories

· Submit to the search engines and indexing services being sure to follow all the instructions as they vary for each directory. Some may require a validation of the feed prior to them accepting your submission.

· Here is a really good site with a list of the top 55 directories to submit your RSS feed to. Thanks to Robin Good for creating the site and keeping it updated.

If you are running an online business using a blog or website, in order to increase the traffic and ultimately profit, be sure to create the RSS feed and submit it to as many directories as possible.
